Can you feel happy when you need it?

The feeling of happiness is caused by thoughts. 

You can get out of emotional discomfort by directing your thoughts to something that will make you feel better.

See how the plain act of remembering already generated a good feeling in your body.

Taking care of your happiness is part of your emotional hygiene, but it does not come automatically it needs to be established as a habit before it becomes automatic behavior and aspect of your personality.
